Hello, I'm just wondering has anyone find one nice analog clock to use?
I try to search through the internet downloading site, and didn't really find good looking analog clock to use on my desktop.
or should I request to build aqua analog clock?
If anyone knows it will be helpful.
Thanks in advance..

Hi,
Of all the analog clock programs I have checked out, and that's quite a few, SysMetrix seems to be the nicest.
It has alpha blending and transparency so it's doesn't look all jagged and crusty on one's desktop.
As for OSX style clocks. You may want to head over to
http://www.deskmod.com and grab the "OSX Clock" theme for SysMetrix.
I port it mysefl
Peace,
Grusic

Thanks for the tip Grusic. Symetrics is great, as is your OSX clock. One question: the shadow under the clock appears a solid black (and I'm running XP). Is there a way to get the shadow to have alpha transparency? I couldn't find that in the configuration.
Thanks again,
Ken

ok, here is why the shadow is off. For some reason it looks like the background does not support transparency unless it is red 255 blue 255 and green 0. When you use a program like paint or anything it will not color the shadow, so it looks like we are going to need someone talented to make a good shadow or you can just zoom in and take it down to the border

Thank you Grusic it looks pretty nice. My desktop resolution is set as 1600 X 1200 so it's hard to see the clock on taskbar, so I always wanted have an analog clock on desktop.
That aqua skin of system metrix is pretty good.

Hi all,
Thanks.
The problem with the shadow was there from the very beginning when I ported it from the original *.png I found.
Since SysMetrix only supports *.bmp, I had to convert to the format. Things got lost in the conversion.
Either the clock wound up looking totally flat or it had the black band.
I tried all sorts of things to produce a decent shadow, to no avail. In the end I decided a small black band looked better than flat, so I left it at that.
Please feel free to improve upon it though, I certainly wont be offended.
Latah,
Grusic

Just a quick PS to my last post.
Perhaps if enough people email the author of SysMetrix and ask that he support *.png, which does support transparency data, he may actually do it in a later release.
As I said eariler, SysMetrix is the best clock program I have found. All the other either didn't skin or they just plain looked like crap.
Regards,
Grusic

Does it support 32 bit BMPs? They have transparency. Photoshop 7 will save 32 bit BMPs for you.

it supports .gif images and i thought that they supported transparency?? yet when a fresh png of the image is saved as a gif, then loaded in the program the background is white. I did this is photoshop. I think it is a problem with sysmetrix, not the picture, if you look at some of the clocks that come with it, they all have the same problem with it. I think that maybe the program supprts transparency on the clock hands but not on the background, unless the color is red255 blue255 and green0. then when you just color everything is that the shadow still looks bad. Anyway if someone could figure this out it would be great to be able to have this program and convert all of our png clocks that are running around to this.
