posted at the expire board

Okay, I worked on another API in the SPrintWindow library.

The API is named: SPrintWindowGetDIB().

Yes, this is what you are thinking. This API returns you the DIRECT DIB pointer of a layered window. it DOESN'T copy the window into a buffer, it returns the REAL buffer used by the system to draw the window.

With this I modified a little app I made when I was starting expire to use the new API. And I believe the result is pretty cool :)

Of course it's still compatible with 2K/XP/2K3 :)

Grab the file !!!

SPrintWindow_demo.avi (8.39mb) Video/Audio: WMV9/WMA2

Holy Moly.

Siwu gets my recommendation for a developers gold medal.
And my personal thanks for not involving the .Net runtime, of course. :)

Actually this a video showing a 3d object representing a firefox window with a flash animation in it, all in real time. Kind of longhorn :)

Gives me the chills, I can't wait to intract with this in person ;)

@siwu, will this handle video, such as wmp? could we possibly see this api implemented in the next release beta of expire? or will the incorporation of this be further into the future?

Your guy's work's truly inspirational.

best regards,

~fc

How come all your previews have an ugly blue wallpaper in the background? Why not put a nicer color in there like purple or a light green? Or at least reduce the hue / saturation of the blue color, it hurts my eyes. Other then that: fuwagaklacoba, that looks really nice.

Well, I myself think future desktop will kinda like that.

However, I do think Longhorn can do this kind of thing, with the help of the DWM :)
