Call me an idiot but I am new to Avedesk as this version is the first experience that I have had with this awesome application. I used Samurize before this but am still a little bit confused as to where exactly I should d/l certain files to such as the skins or widgets??? If someone can just help me one time with this I won't have any more problems.......Thanks for being helpful............

Well basically, each widget has different skin procedures.

For example, the itunes desklet, you download the skin (ie monkeybutt.zip) and you unzipp it in Avedesk1.1>desklets>itunes>skins. Next time you want to use it, you right click the desklet, go to desklet properties and select the skin called the folder name (lets say you called it monkeybutt), in this case, monkeybutt.

For the ftp desklet for example you have to go to the properties and change each of the pictures for its respective instances (ie trasnfer, error and so on). WHere you put the images you downloaded doesnt really matter as you will have to browse for each of the images. FOr organizational purposes i would recommend you save them in a skins folder in Avedesk1.1>desklets>FTP>

Thanks for the help Seph! I know it's hard for people to be patient around here since everyone else seems to know everything already about all this stuff but at least I can admit that I don't. Your instructions helped me a little but still a bit confused. I'll just have to find someone who can help me more b/c I don't want to bother you. Thanks though..........

Is Systats the MAIN folder as far as where we should be looking to extract the majority of our widgets to??? Like configs and icons???

If the widget depends on SysStats, then you should extract it to the SysStats folder. But if it doesn't depend on SysStats, then it should go to your AveDesk\desklets folder.

Thanks a lot to both Seph and Hush66 for your patience with me! Surprisingly enough I got Avetunes to work at least for starters............and I'm happy so we'll see how it goes from here. At least now I know that if I do run into problems maybe I could ask you two for help before getting screamed at by someone else for not knowing what I'm doing here.

Thanks,

This image is courtesy of AVE. It was originally posted in another help thread.

You can find the link here:

You can put "AveDesk11" ("AD11RELEASE" in the image's example) in your C:\Program Files Folder.

I hope this helps.

Thanks guys for being patient and giving me valuable feedback to this and some of the other questions I have had over the past couple of days. The file path visual of Ave's that Firecracker brought to my attention is exactly the type of thing I need to figure this type of app out. So I also grabbed the Systats diagram similar to the one posted by Ave and I can't figure out why I don't have an iTunes folder in the desklets folder??? Freakin' pisses me off b/c with Sammy I knew how to move files and configs around but since Avedesk is more confusing I am not able to do that yet.......
