I spoke with Moby last nite as part of my article and he allowed me to preview his newest dock.

All I can say is...Great Job.

Speed - MUCH faster
Animation/Zooming - More accurate
CPU load - no improvement yet
Memory - slight improvement
Added - Poof, Bouncing icons

Version .65 will be released soon. Probably by this weekend at the latest.

This is going to be one incredible year for dock development with all the improvements the designers are adding.

Keep it up Moby!

Also, look for my info on the new ObjectDock in the StarDock thread HERE

When you move over the dock, and your CPU load hits 80-100%

IMHO, I don't think much can be done here, All the docks seem to do the same when it comes to CPU load.

Hehe duckie, i was about to post those things :D

but oh well :D

couple of more things which stood out very clear:

* drag and drop has a HUGE change and moves as smooth as yz.
* being able to drag and drop onto a program on the dock (say throw a link on ie).

it really is a great appli and definitely runs much better now.

basically there is no need for a screen shot, cause the poof is just like the OD, and having a snap shot of the dock wont reveal those changes i listed above.

looks like i'll be switching back to mobydock when 0.65 comes out :) that is, if it runs as fast as the current Y'z. we shall see.

/me can't wait. :)

I could never get into Y'z, and ObjectDock isn't my cup of tea. On HWG it seems people have forgotten about moby, all that will change this weekend. :D

Ohh yea, I can't imagine mobydock being faster, it's already super fast for me.

So could you never get Y'z Dock to work or you didn't like it?

Just been using MobyDock (0.6) for about 30 mins...loving it already!

It's so much easier to configure than Y'z. On my computer, cpu usage only hits to 60%, but that's only because it's a 2 CPU system. I'm hoping that there can be some improvement on the CPU load.

Moby is currently the best Dock clone on windows (I personally think), very flexible in terms of configurations (image quality, number of icons to affect, min and max icon size, transparency level...etc.).

Looking forward to 0.65.
Is MobyDock going to continue to be free? even when it hits version 1.0?

I don't know if it's a good idea to "sell" a product that emulates a copyrighted program, though I know aqua-soft is having some money troubles. If mobydock is really going where I think it is, I'd gladly pay for it, but not in its current state. I'm using y'z right now because it's a little easier on my system, but Mobydock was the one that got me to love the dock, and I'll always go back for it. :)

This weekend maybe? Great!! I am such and evangelist for this app. My non-tech friends love it and wonder why MS didden't emulate it in XP.

Don't forget Friday is the new BOND movie with Halle Berry!!
