Ok, I think you did a mistake when Replacing the Comctl32 files. (why I know. Cause I'm the one that test all of those and they never worked for me!! NEVER...and I change them the way Dan wanted and you showing me how and still nothing.)..

If I'm right..If Dan left the undo Replacer in the file...do this

Bootup via Your windows Xp pro Cd...press for "R" for repair...go to you C:/Windows folder. Looks for BATCH UndoReplacer...
That is what I always used if I get an error..And also..you can do..before doing that...try to replace all the Comctl32 file (in the OSx panter system folder)..once again..and the right way that it's explained in the first readme the last part of the text file..

and reboot...
see if that helps..if not..try the UndoReplacer. if doesn't exist..I will talk with Dan about that..

hey dan, I finished installed all your system files, and this mod is awsome, thanks for your hard work and share with us, but I have a small font problem, see screenie:

fonts seems little bit too big for tags. and when I go to advanced apprearance--icon-, I dont have Lucida sans unicode, weird...

could you please tell me what's going on with this font problem?

kemenaran> Get truelaunchbar (the beta v18, not the older final vers.) install it, right click taskbar, toolbars...truelaunchbar....hide quick launch also..Then right click taskbar, choose "make new menu" and name it Finder, File, Edit, etc etc etc..do allt hose, tehn just right click one of those new dropdown menus and add what ya want.

Gladiator> Probably cuz ya didn't install the font, it's in the mod pack.


oh also, in the mod pack, the part about Lucida Sans Unicode Size=10...after doing that, if ya still get the cut-offf prob...change it to size =11, apply, reboot, and then change it back to size=10.

Everyone> The Comctl32.dll probs some guys get (no toptoolbar showing up in c.panel items).....Works for some people, doesn't for others, no idea:) I'm guessing you have to have all 3 of those ..Common Controls.. folders in your installation, and not be missing one of them, etc. Anyway, the comctl32.dll from the mod's folder, ending with "...70a" is the one that does the bitmap. So ya might wanna reshack that one, and add it to the others if ya find you don't get toptoolbar.


P.S. Make sure ya read the instructions guys, SOME of these probs are because ya didn't read them, ya don't read ya don't get help next time

I´ve installed the pack yesterday and i have some problems:
- Menu fonts are too big.
- System Preferences window doesn´t look like your screenshots, it´s look like windows.
I have follow all the instructions and install your windowblinds visual style.
Could you help me?

Ok i realy want this pack, but all the servers frankly suck. The original server is down, and has been for a while, the mixx studio doesnt support resume, so i get to like 29megs on dialup, and the dialup disconects itself and i have to start all over and the tiger server is down.

Wheres simon?

If you Menu fonts are too big, try display properties->appareance->Advanced->"other Advanced"...in the dropdown Menu choose "Menu" and change the fonts to Lucida Sans Unicode to size 10 (or 11 o 9)...

And about the System Preference did you change all the Comct32.dll Files?...
If yo did....everyone and the right way....Then you have the same problem as me....It is just not possible to change them, I also have this problem and I tried so many times to change them..(even in Safe mode) but nothing!..

Alittle more better in spanish I think?

Si tu letras son demas de grande, Vete a hase derecho click, sobre tur Desktop y despues "Get info"....vas a donde puedes cambiar tu appariencia...y ahi Advanced (y tambe si estas usando Windowblinds.tienes que ir tambien en Other advanced) y ahi en e menu ...escoje por "Menu" y cambie la letra a Lucida Sans Unicode de grande 10 (o 11 0 9)...ves si eso te ayuda...

Y sobr'e tu "system preference"...Tu tambien tienes la problema que yo tengo.
Es algo que no podemos hacer nada. Si cambiaste los "files" Comct32.dll....bien..no puedes hacer nada.....
Yo tambien tengo ese problema ..intende de todo para ver si pudia cambiarlo..pero nada...intende haste in " Safe mode" pero nada....no sabemos porque a uno si cambie y a otros no...

About the system preferences, yes, i changed all the comct32.dll even in safe mode like you, but nothing...
About menu fonts i changed the fonts to size 10 but the problem goes on!!
I´ve got the same problem with internet explorer, the window doesn´t look like the mod screenshots,it´s lok like window, did you have the same problem???

Before I download, I was wondering, well, actually, I guess I'll explain what the problem is before I ask if it's any different or if I'm doing something wrong: I know that skinning scrollbars is tricky in programs like IE that don't use standard Windows scrollbars. So I assume that's why the bars aren't alpha'd in IE, and are just rectangles with white to round off the corners. A small question is whether or not normal scrollbars can have more than single bit-alphas for the rounded corner effect--i.e., there's a pixel-thin border around the curves because the transparency is either on or off--not blended. Is there any way around this, or might this/future releases address this? Or is it just that WindowBlinds can't skin the scrollbars like that?

A more problematic issue is that when the scrollbar gets really small, it starts having noticable problems. Like collapsing unevenly, forming a kind of unsymmetrical oval, I guess, until, ultimately, one half of (circle-sized) bar seems to just overlap the otherone. So all of my really small bars are semi circles. Which is weird. The other thing is that as they get smaller, the overall shape of the bar with respect to its height (for vertical scrolls) gets more rectangular, so that when it's all the way at the top or bottom, it just, like, covers up the space at the top like a rectangle, instead of giving the appearance of it being curved any more, so... yeah.

Not that this is a big deal, the skin is still incredible/the best I've encountered, but the scrollbar issues can be distracting sometimes, so I figured I'd see if there was any hope.

new question ... and i guess this is more of a general computer question but since i'm dealing with the issue here, i'll ask it here:

i installed flyakite's package, which means that all my original files were backed up. now if i'm installing this pack over flyakite's, will the flyakite files now get re-saved as the backed-up original files, thereby replacing my original windows ones that were backed up the first time around? sorry if that's confusing...

i have never encountered a major problem where i needed to restore everything back to the way it was originally, but i never rule that chance out and i'd always like to have my original files on hand ... i just would be upset if flyakite's mods were saved as backups where original files should be.
