Ok, more changes...

I've set up the "cleaning crew":
  • Sid
  • Unbeliever
  • Dreamz
  • Ludge
  • Loofygun
The tasks that I ask that they carry out, over the course of the next week or so (basically until the task is done) is to move topics to the forums they feel is appropriate, and re-tag and re-title them as necessary.

Whilst all these members currently have "moderator" privileges, they are not moderators, and should only carry out the tasks required to clean up the forums.

Any member of the clean up crew found to have used their access rights for any reason other than this will be suspended automatically.

On that note, what should they be doing?
  • Moving topics to the right forums
  • Tagging threads
  • Removing images from posts which exceed the image size limits
  • Remove "pointless" posts
To remove pointless posts, do not delete them - use the "split topic" function.

glad to be of service Stevie. Do you have to add a note saying what we've moved or tagged or can we just do it and leave people to see whats been happening?

Just leave it...

I'll be keeping an eye on what you're all doing and when, via the magic of the Admin control panel ;)

how do we decide where to move topics? e.g. should vs requests and releases both be moved to the visual styles section?

and do we select "yes" to leave a link after moving?

Nope, do not clik on yes after moving them, that will leave just forum junk, dreamz.

Welcome aboard, guys and thanx for helping us out :D

Yes, move that sorta thing there, but drop me a message if you think it should be in a lower level forum (e.g. MSStyle Releases/Requests, et al.) that you can't find on the menu, and I'll move them manually in the database.

Unfortunately, there's no way to avoid this, and it means more work for me, but I can handle it :)

Panther without Pants: how deep we should dig into the old threads and retag them?
Panther without Pants: and don`t tell me "Since the dawn of time" :P
Panther without Pants: i`m doing the Walls thread
Stevie: Since the dawn of time.

So that means we should enter the twighlight zone of AS. The place without tags! >.;)

i think we should have separate sub-sections for requesting visual styles and completed visual styles. we could separate it off from the rest of customizing windows, which would be tailored to more general questions about modding. makes it easier to find finished work.

We do have seperate sub-sections, Dreamz...
MSStyle Requests
MSStyle Releases
WindowBlinds Requests
WindowBlinds Releases

Unfortunately, IPB won't let you move to them, so I have to do it manually.
To make my life easier, put all threads that should go in any of the four forums mentioned above into the Visual Styles forum, with [release] or [request] tags, as appropriate, and either MSStyle or WindowBlinds elsewhere in the title, and I'll move them all in SQL.

oh that's what you meant. i don't see those sub-sections at all, so i thought they didn't exist.

i'll start moving threads.

Just a question; Does the new "Size" regulation on images cover the Desktop Screenshot threads? Since many people posted them as 600x400-ish sizes, are those threads just going to be left "as is"? It would seem pretty harsh (and cruel ;)) to make the Cleanup Crew fix all~ those posts.

Perhaps just adding a "56k User" warning to the first post of those threads?

Good luck, it'll be nice to see the forums all nice and tidy.. ;)

I've just mass moved, tagged and removed useless posts from a load of wallpaper releases. I think the releases areas are gonna be the most work. I'll do a few more then go to bed.

Oh, BTW, I've removed a couple of massive sigs. I realise that's a little outside of our purpose, but hey, they were in threads I was sorting at the time and I did tag them so that they know why it was done. Are we allowed to do that?

i don`t think so >.<
all we`re allowed is moving/tagging/re-titleing threads and nothing more.
we`re not even allowed to remove posts.
u better talk to Stevie/Tim about that

:o oop. Damn. I won't do any more of that then. Sorry.

Edit: Unbeliever, he says we're supposed to move posts to the trash forum by spliiting them from the topic they're in. I don't think many things get properly deleted these days anyway.
