Would it be possible to write a desklet for Avedesk that when you click on your icon it would open a menu of either pre-defined programs or the files in that folder.

I agree. AveDesk is getting better each month. Can hardly keep up...
However, that kind of horizontal pop up menu you were suggesting is a bit hard to implement, especially when you have more folders / files than will fit on your desktop - a real vertical context menu would be no problem to do, especially if you had lots of files and file types defined in your Object Dock settings, which could be reused then...

DesktopX2 can do that, so it's definately possible.
More likely be predifined objects, as directory structures can be a mess.

Naaa, theres already a desklet called kkmenu, i think it costs money now, but it was an objectdock desklet so it probably would work with avedesk. Plus you can get version 1.0 of it, for free.

yeah something we all need is a NEW menu manager like KKmenu (but free this time :@)
i think that with the 1.1 version of AveDesk, most of the requested features will be available and the desklets lie this will be feasible!!!!! just wait a little bit
