  1. Hello! I've been trying to use AveDesk 1.4 for my desktop shortcuts with the Folder/Drive desklet that I found here, in the forums. However, I noticed that every time some file operation is in process in Explorer, AveDesk simply crashes - for instance, when I copy/move files. My current configuration is with only two folder desklets and nothing else active. Here's the latest crash dump: Version=1 EventType=APPCRASH EventTime=129621047699887866 ReportType=2 Consent=1 UploadTime=129621047701847978 ReportIdentifier=3536939b-ed9b-11e0-8d93-e0699577842d IntegratorReportIdentifier=3536939a-ed9b-11e0-8d93-e0699577842d WOW64=1 Response.type=4 Sig[0].Name=Application name Sig[0].Value=AveDesk.exe Sig[1].Name=Version Sig[1].Value=1.4.0.0 Sig[2].Name=Application time stamp Sig[2].Value=4779bbd1 Sig[3].Name=Faulty module name Sig[3].Value=StackHash_43a4 Sig[4].Name=Faulty module version Sig[4].Value=6.1.7601.17514 Sig[5].Name=Faulty module time stamp Sig[5].Value=4ce7ba58 Sig[6].Name=Exception code Sig[6].Value=c0000374 Sig[7].Name=Exception offset Sig[7].Value=000ce653 DynamicSig[1].Name=OS Version DynamicSig[1].Value=6.1.7601.2.1.0.256.1 DynamicSig[2].Name=Language variable ID DynamicSig[2].Value=1026 DynamicSig[22].Name=Additional Information 1 DynamicSig[22].Value=43a4 DynamicSig[23].Name=Additional Information 2 DynamicSig[23].Value=43a461b4ac5e6e57a75e5e6818b35d40 DynamicSig[24].Name=Additional Information 3 DynamicSig[24].Value=f75a DynamicSig[25].Name=Additional Information 4 DynamicSig[25].Value=f75ae99b8b976dc08aa2eccf109bda9c UI[2]=D:\Software\avedesk14\AveDesk.exe UI[3]=AveDesk stopped working UI[4]=Windows can check online for a solution to the problem. 2. Hi, people, Isn't there some app that can extend the functions of Vista's tray clock and, say, display day, date...? Thanks.
  3. Hello, guys, I've found the battery tray icons that Mac OS uses and I'd very much like to have them in my Vista. But there are several problems: - in Mac, there seem to be fewer icons than in Vista; - the bmp file in batmeter.dll is with black background, while the Mac icons are also black. So, could anyone help me and mod the files (attached) so that one can enjoy a Mac-like battery meter? Thanks a lot for the help!!! battery_vista.bmp
  4. Help Center For V5.6

Hi, people, I looked through the topic but must have missed it, so I'll have to ask about my problem. XWD is set to start with Windows Vista and has a shortcut in the startup folder. When Vista loads, the XWIndowsDock.exe process is active but there is no dock to be seen anywhere. Terminating the process and manually launching XWD by using the very same shortcut in the startup folder solves everything and the dock appears. Any ideas how to solve this? Thanks!
  5. Language bar - country flag?

Thanks, Kim! I just installed it. There was something strange that the program asked me to do - to add Russian kdb layout. I don't need it so as nice as the program looks, if it still refuses to work without Russian, I'll be forced to uninstall it. Unless of course there is someway to make it not want that particular layout; and if there was a way to have its interface in English...
  6. Hello, people, I'm not too sure whether this is the right place to ask, so forgive me. Anyway, does anyone know if there is a way to have Vista's language bar display country flags instead of plain "EN", for instance? There was this software called Keyboard Ninja long time ago. It is still available on the net, of course, but its development has long been stopped. And it's got one minor flaw, though - under the flag there is a color indicator. So, any ideas?
  7. No progress bar in Firefox?

Obviously there is a flaw in the skin itself. From what I've seen on the website of the developer, I'm not the only one to have experienced it. So, I reckon, the only thing to do is sit and wait for a new version...
  8. Hello, people, Does anyone know why I can't see the progress bar in Firefox's download window? I thought there was something wrong with the Vista Visual Style, but even when I changed it, the problem remained. Using: Vista Ultimate SP1 Mozilla Firefox 3.0.5 with Proto 1.1pre2 skin. Anyway of solving the issue? I really like this skin!
  9. System monitors on taskbar?

OK, then, anyone of those using Samurize to recommend config files for this purpose?
  10. Hi, everyone, Didn't know whether this was the right place to ask, so please forgive me. Anyway, does anyone know what Windows application can display system monitors (CPU, RAM, battery) on the taskbar just like MacOS does? Thanks a lot!
  11. Mac-like system tray clock for Vista?

Yes, I've used it, but I can't skin it - there still remains a faint background which is different from the color of my taskbar... Don't know why, though. And by the way, TClock still has issues with the font even after I installed GDI++.
  12. Mac-like system tray clock for Vista?

No, I think I don't. I've heard of it, but I thought it was too difficult to configure.
  13. Mac-like system tray clock for Vista?

I have TClock. The probem is it won't skin properly. Any ideas how to have a proper rendering of the font? I realise this is a system issue, but is there a way to have the day spelled with capital letter at the beginning?
  14. No progress bar in Firefox?

Well, the addons site of Mozilla says it is compatible.
  15. Haha, well, this is easy, but then it wouldn't look like real Mac. Is there no other option? I can't believe noone is actually interested in the matter. I mean, there are numerous communities like this one, dedicated to Mac-like customization and noone even bothers with such apparent things like the status bar icons...
  16. I used Photoshop to compile the bmp. Can't it use alpha channel? But there's still the issue of the icon being horizontal, while the spot remains vertial.
  17. Obviously, there's something wrong with black being the "transparent" colour, as it appears behind the new icons (check the screenshots in my previous post). Judging from the shape on the shots, I guess Vista would not accept a horizontal battery icons. So if anyone has better skills modding dlls, please let me know, I could help with the graphic part.
  18. I didn't quite get it: you suggest that I copy the Mac icons over the Vista ones and no meter if I can see their borders, the system should be able to display them? ================================ EDIT: Well, anyway, here's what I've come up with (see the attachment). The problem is that I can't replace the bitmap in batmeter.dll, because Resource Hacker say there's an "access violation at address 00402791...". Could anyone do the replacing for me and send me the compiled dll? Or perhaps give me another idea how to get the work done? Thanks! ================================ EDIT2: Unfortunately, simply changing the images in the bitmaps didn't do the trick (see the screenshots). Anyone has better ideas? Please? battery_mac_16.bmp battery_mac_20.bmp
  19. Pidlshortcut doesn't show labels

Hi, all, So do I understand that there is no way to get a shortcut's sublable to work properly in Vista? I mean, for instance, to show the total size of a folder? Thanks!
